Current Responsibilities :

Self employed Engineer Surveyor, contracting out to various inspection and independent engineering companies, carrying out statutory inspections in the disciplines of crane/lifting, pressure systems , stage and vendor inspections quality control and carrying out risk assessments. The area of work is vast and within many types of industries - petrochemical, heavy engineering and power controls.

Responsibilities:

-Planning and arranging inspections within Crane/Lifting Equipment, Passenger/Goods Lifts, Pressure Systems covering a geographical area from Birmingham to and including Scotland.
-Generating computer reports on the results of the inspections and submitting them to the clients.
-Liaising with clients and advising them on current legislation and regulations.
-Stage/vendor inspections.
-Carrying out risk assessments

Industrial Inspector
Responsible for inspection work, which is varied and on completion of the work I wrote and issued the necessary reports. Although based in Doha, I was called upon to carryout work throughout the Middle East and the South East Asia Sub Continents. I completed primary work for the survey and commissioning of industrial/lifting equipment for a newly constructed power station in Pakistan. My work in Doha was mainly for the oil/gas and supporting industries, the inspections follow the guidelines laid down in BS, ANSI, API and ISO. For the commercial sector, not directly involved with oil production there is no statutory requirement in place by the Government for inspections of equipment, as a result of this we were called upon by various organisations requesting our services, to implement a safety code and inspection system, in accordance to the relevant regulations adopted throughout Europe and the U.S.A. 

Responsibilities:
-Offshore DOE SI 1019 inspections of offshore installations.
-Plant/vessel facility auditing and certification.
-Safety engineering.
-The quality aspects, inspection and certification of Lifting Equipment /Appliances to be used in the oil/gas industry.
-Inspection and certification of all industrial/offshore equipment.
-The certification of diving equipment to AODC Rules.
-To liaise with clients advising them on relevant regulations and
specifications to operate safely in the oil/gas industry.
-Marketing and public relations for LR
-The internal auditing of the LR, Doha office.

Clients: Halliburton, Qatar General Petroleum Company, Oceaneering, Occidental, Schlumberger, McDermotts, Qatar Gas & Petroleum Company, Qatar Subsea Services and Qatar Navigation Company.

Engineer Surveyor
Responsibilities:

-The statutory inspection and reporting of a variety of equipment from fork lift trucks, vehicle lifts, passenger/goods lifts, 5-500 ton E.O.T. cranes, mobile/crawler cranes, hoists, teeming cranes class 1 ladle cranes, LEV's and power presses following applicable British Standards and HSE guidelines.
-Inspection of rolling/casting mills and vendor shop surveillance.
-The provision of Q/A supervision and assistance in cost schedule control.
-Vendor surveillance and third party inspection.
-Supplier quality audits.
-Undertaking of periodic engineering inspections.
-Project co-ordination, management for safety and quality.
-Approval of test and commissioning procedures, witnessing of functional tests.
-Carrying out of special service requests such as, geometrical surveys of all types of cranes and process line equipment.

Clients: British Steel, B.P., BNFL, and I.C.I.
May 1991-Aug 1993. Lloyds British 
Senior Service Engineer
Responsibilities:

-Trouble shooting electrical/mechanical faults on various types and levels of lifting appliances.
-To carry out special projects, i.e. crane conversions, panel replacements, total rewires and crane uprating, as part of a team and team leader.
-Proof load testing and inspection of lifting appliances, examples of crane makes, such as Demag, Morris, Butterly, J.Smith, William Avril and Clarke Chapman.

Oct 1985 - March 1991. Record Potain Ltd. 
Service Engineer
Responsibilities:

-Tower crane erection/dismantle at supervisory level.
-Proof load testing and inspection of tower cranes.
-Trouble shooting of electrical/mechanical faults.
-Site surveys for the suitability of ground conditions for foundations and mobile crane selection used during the crane erection procedure.
-Installation/testing of passenger/goods hoists.

Clients: McAlpines, Balfour Beatty, L.P.H.,O'Roukes, Laings and Costains.
Sept 1981 - July 1985. Royal Navy (Fleet Air Arm). 
Air Engineer.
Responsibilities:

-The flight servicing of Sea Harrier aircraft.
-Routine periodic and flexible maintenance of the above.
-Periodic examinations and inspections of the above.
-Entries and the signing for completed work into the MOD form 700A.
