completing three years service in the Merchant Navy I have spent the past 26 years
working in the Petro-Chemical Industry. Starting out as a
Blaster/Sprayer then moving on to become a Painting/Coating Inspector and Painting Supervisor.
My experience includes projects based Onshore and Offshore, on Production Platforms, Wellhead Platforms, Storage Tanks and a variety of new Construction and Maintenance
programs. I have worked throughout the UK and in Europe, Nigeria, Egypt,

(Singapore) Technical Service Representative
Worked in Keppel Tuas Shipyard Singapore during the refurbishment of an
FSO and on the conversion of an FPSO for Single Buoy Mooring (SBM). Duties
included advising the shipyard contractors on the coating
systems and the application of the coatings, advising the
client about different types of coating systems for the project plus monitoring the mixing and application of the paint for the dry-docking
work on
both vessels. Also monitored the coating application on new constructions
outside the shipyard and Singapore. (i.e. modules, pipe work and pressure
vessels.) |

June 94 to April 99 London Bridge Engineering
(Abu Dhabi U.A.E.) Clients Painting Inspector
Worked as Clients Supervisor, contracted to ZADCO Offshore Abu Dhabi. The
work was in the Umm Al Dalk, Zakum and Satah fields based on a workboat refurbishing Wellhead,
Satellite, Production and Accommodation Platforms.
Also based on Zirku and Arzanah Islands reinstating GFRE/GRP linings to the internal
surfaces of crude oil storage tanks. Duties included monitoring contractors painting and coating operations, daily reporting, progress reports and signing off, on behalf of
client, of contractor's time sheets, equipment lists etc. Also responsible for final inspection before handing over to the Production Dept. |

Nov 93 to Dec 93 Ipedex Production
(UAE)
(Abu Dhabi U.A.E.) Clients Painting Inspector
Worked Offshore Abu Dhabi, seconded to ADMA-OPCO. Duties included monitoring of
the Painting Supervisors who were working for the sub-contractor, ensuring all work conformed to the clients
specification. Also carried out general inspection duties and performed final
inspection prior to handover to client's Production Dept. |

Sept 93 to Nov 93 Transocean Coating Inspection Co.
(U.K.) Painting Inspector
Worked for SHELL UK on a major repaint program, also worked for MOBIL and ESSO on coatings for new aviation fuel storage
tanks and seconded to BRITISH GAS for the inspection of sections of Offshore Turbine
units. (Blast cleaning and Aluminum Metal Sprayed.) |

(Nigeria) Clients Painting Inspector
Seconded to ELF NIGERIA LTD. Duties included monitoring of contractors Painting
Inspectors and Supervisors. Witnessing of surface preparation, DFT checks,
adhesion tests etc. Checked that all work conformed to the specification
during new construction of jackets and deck sections onshore, and then offshore
during the hook-ups. |

Worked on a short-term contract seconded to SUEZ OIL Co. Duties included
general inspection and checks to ensure that the work performed complied
with the specification. The work was carried out at various locations, both onshore and offshore. |

Seconded to QGPC in Doha. The complete paint refurbishment of wellhead jackets
was performed offshore using workboats. Onshore there were various
refurbishment projects. Duties included general inspection and monitoring
of painting contractors. |
